10 reasons we’re excited about Adam

1) NVIDIA Next Generation Tegra: Two ARM Cortex A9 cores (a world first) that promise an unimpeded browsing and media experience.
2) PixelQi screen: It is easy on the eyes in bright sunlight and bright office lights. And it could potentially increase battery life between charges by a factor of five. When combined with the dramatic power savings that the Tegra chip can enable, this could be a game changer.
3) 3.2 MP Swivel Auto Focus Camera: A Notion Ink patented design, this could lead to interesting cases of recording your meetings, lectures in High definition.
4) At 12.6 mm and ~650 gms, this is one of the lightest and thinnest tablets around. Talk about size 0 for tablets.
5) App store: With potentially plans for upto $1 million app developer contest, you can expect the app market to provide new and exciting applications that make full use of the Tegra 2’s Geforce level graphics.
6) Flash: Acceleration support for Flash 10.1 means a never before seen experience for web content on mobile devices. (e.g. youtube and vimeo HD videos.) And those giving a presentation using Prezi will be able to render it at full quality on the Adam.
7) Open: Unlike the Apple iPad, this is not a closed system. In the future, this device should also be able to run Google’s Chromium OS or Ubuntu. An Nvidia exec has confirmed that they are working on a Linux build that will run on the Tegra.
8 ) Support for Multi-touch: Right now, the testing devices are running on Android 2.1. This means that the final release should be technically able to support multi-touch features (minus the Apple-owned pinch zoom) on all if not all apps.
9) Voice Commands: It has voice command support, like the Droid and NexusOne.
10) Expansion slots: It supports 3 USB , an HDMI port and an expandable SD card slot. Means docking to your HDTV and USB keyboard would be a breeze.

I BOTHER IT SHOULD NOT GO LIKE SIMPUTERS
  • No color screen? What is the point of video content, a web cam, or flash if it is going to be displayed in chromatic eink?
  • OZ
It does have color (the screen is a usual LCD) but it can be switched into a eInk similar mode that allows it to become reflective (like eBook readers).
  • Perhaps you should take some time to look at how the screen works.

The difference here is that unlike regular LCD displays, when in direct sunlight only the color washes out, rather than the entire image.

Good work! Now the hard part is selling, and after sales support. Wish you the very best. Go for it guys.
  • I saw the well orchestrated show to exhibit the iPad, and I must admit that at the very moment Steve Jacobs finished the presentation I was repeating to myself "I must have one". It was the kind of "love at first sight" most teenagers think they feel when seeing a beautiful face, without even knowing the character behind the pretty face or the curvy body. Days later, reports by the ones who know appeared on papers and mags, reflecting impressions about the product.

Now, I get to know about a new product, without much noise, through a very simple and natural interview, and the "love at first sight" I had felt for the iPad has gone right through the sink hole. I surely have read and heard about the smart guys from India that have made the guys at Sillicon Valley tremble but could not imagine the reason for their panic. Now I understand.

You, people, have gotten what I would like for my own people here in Venezuela: a sense of pride on your own potential and the courage to make it work and transform it into something real, tangible. I hope you won't mind if I tell you how proud of you I feel. Go ahead with the good work. I look forward to the moment I can get the Adam, and handle it and put it to good use.

Hey Guys, This is great innovation & proves India & Indian Brains to be on the top of the World. This product should be supported by the Indian Government in terms of Marketing & Sales. We should support our Technology Developments more than of the others.

Like the innovaton that has gone into the camera and the screen (going by the video). I am sure there are tons of other stuff in there that will surely blow Apple's IPad out of contension. Wondering why the name 'ADAM'?
Feeling proud that how we Indian's keep others on their toes.

Good humor... i wonder if that was the reason though... if it was... then, for sure, these innovative guys have jest too.

Good job guys I just wish the Indian media helps in hyping this up. Thats what works in Silicon Valley, everyone (media ,investors, developers) working together to back a startup.
Android is a great choice. I am sure there will be lots of developers available for it very soon and that will be a big plus. Looking forward to Adam's release in India and would be keen to contribute some apps myself.
  • srinivas_av
Excellent, a 'GPS' in this would have been be like a last nail iPAD's coffin. (of course, the above 10 nails are enough)
Hope to have a India appealing price.
  • kalmesd
I will bye it for sure.
  • saakib
There are a lot of 'coulds' put in our content dear Sriram.. I am sure the company itself will refrain to do that...the first reason to 'turn-off' possible buyers is 'coulds'...

the product looks promising in many ways...if they cud get it reviewed on a tech-site like C-net, will be great for creating awareness...
  • That display is a sure win! Wonder how magazine content will look on it though....
