iPhone 3GS coming to India via Airtel

While most technoholiks are already looking forward to what’s on offer with the iPhone 4G, the 3GS version is about to come to India nearly a year after it was introduced to the world. We have it here from a wire service, so this is not a rumour. Even though many voiced dissappointment with the 3GS, it’s one of the most refined and versatile gadgets money can buy.

“Bharti Airtel on Friday said it had agreed with Apple Inc to sell its iPhone 3GS in India in the coming months.” – Reuters

From a June 10, 2009 article from Mumbai Mirror:
With co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs absent on medical leave, Apple’s biggest unveiling at its annual conference for software developers was a new model of the iPhone, the 3G S. It looks the same but sports a faster processor, longer battery life, an internal compass, a video camera and a photo camera with better resolution and auto-focus.

the apple iphone 3gs launch in india is going to be a big dud just like the orignal iphone. it makes sense to get an iphone from abroad than getting fleeced by the operator and apple. i am using an imported one for the last two years. when you have a new iphone launch this summer its better to avoid buying it here. india seems to be a dumping ground for apple.
for me its goodbye apple as my nexus one is one the way.

Paying Rs.42k for an 1 year old model is too much, Airtel should learn from Singular.
